Founded in 1884, the city of Dakhla is the perfect marriage of the sea and the desert. It represented the first fishing counter for the Spanish presence in the Sahara. It is located on the golf of the same name. It is 600 km south of the city of Laayoune.
This city was called Villa Cisneros and was almost exclusively for Spanish settlers.
In the 40s, 50s and 60s, the city of Dakhla served as a stopover for European planes serving Latin America.
From the end of the 70s and his return to the motherland, Dakhla has continued to develop and transform itself.
Today Dakhla has become a modern industrial and agricultural city that attracts many tourists.
